| Sage TCX Line Of Rods |
|
Sage Fly Rods have made tremendous strides in utilizing the ‘new technologies’
in recent years making them user friendly AND very powerful fish fighting tools. For fly
fisher’s the Sage TCX line of rods or rod blanks, in this ‘ol Rodmaker’s opinion, are cannon’s
for casting and fully capable of landing medium sized to large Red Fish, Strippers, and my
favorite fish of all, the Bonefish. This can be accomplished on a TCX 5 weight or TCX 6 weight
rod in place of the standard bearer for inshore saltwater, the 8 weight. Using the ultra fast
lighter weight rods relieves a lot of strain on your casting arm, allows for pin point accuracy
even in wind which makes for tighter more wind resistant loops. I don’t know about you, but
this old field and streamer enjoys seeing some backing coming off the reel for fish with a high
survival rate after release. If the TCX 5 or 6 weight is used in freshwater, I suggest 3X
tippet, maybe as small as 5X if the fisher is very experienced in the hook set. In salt,
10 or 12 pound leaders or 91/2 of 10 foot in length is the norm. Try casting a TCX – I will
just about guarantee your first word will be – “Wow”!

| Primos Intruduces New Signature Series Turkey Calls |
Each of the Team Primos members has developed their own personal preferences as to what
they want out of their favorite mouth call. It may be the call's ability to reproduce a
certain sound, it may be volume, it may be the call's ability to be blown softly with
extreme realism, or it could be just how easy it is to make the call sound like a wild
turkey hen.

| Sage 330 Grain BASS Fly Rod |
|
New Sage Fly Rod's Meets B.A.S.S. Criteria
Sage recently began building specialized BASS rods and has made blanks available
for rodmaker’s in three configurations the heaviest of which is capable of casting a
wet sock or any of the large wind resistant flies used in heavy weed or brush situations.
Sage is very aware a fly rod will out fish many conventional types of traditional bass
equipment made evident by a B.A.S.S. tournament in which a fly rod user captured all
honors. The B.A.S.S. tournament officials revised their rules to not allow a rod of 8
foot or more of length eliminating most fly rods from competition. Sage began making the
bass rods 7’ 11” in length, four piece and are experiencing overwhelming customer success.
The other bass models are called the Smallmouth for medium deer hair type flies, and the
latest version is the Bluegill made to push out poppers into a wind. The rods come with
specialized Sage Fly Lines of 330 grain, 290 grain, and 230 grain heads all with somewhat
shorter tapers. The Largemouth and Smallmouth are great on windy days in salt water as
well. Have Dennis Freeman build a Custom Tournament Fly Rod for YOU... |
